Indigenous Health Clinic

Health Clinic

The Native Friendship Centre of Montreal (NFCM) continued its partnership with Doctors of the World (DoW) throughout 2024–2025 to operate the onsite Nurse-led Health Clinic. This collaboration remains vital in providing culturally safe, accessible, and trauma- informed healthcare to Indigenous community members who may otherwise face significant barriers within the mainstream health system.

The Clinic offers primary care, health education, disease prevention, and follow-up support for individuals managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiac disease, as well as support for skin conditions, wound and foot care, and mental health challenges including anxiety.

In 2024–2025, the focus was on stabilizing and enhancing the Clinic’s core services by expanding public clinic hours, strengthening internal referral pathways, and increasing advocacy efforts to support community members in navigating complex health and social systems. Securing sustainable financial support remains a key priority to ensure that the Clinic continues to provide holistic care that meets the evolving health needs of Montreal’s Indigenous population.

Our results for 2024-2025

  • 309 unique service users
  • 688 medical consultations
