Atónhnhets Cultural Services Program

The Native Friendship Centre of Montreal (NFCM) remains committed to organizing and supporting cultural activities that celebrate the urban Indigenous community. Cultural programming has long been a key part of NFCM’s services. With the launch of the Atónhnhets Cultural Services Program in February 2024, the Centre strengthened this commitment by assigning dedicated staff to plan and lead these initiatives.

Kaie:ri:nikawera:ke Day Centre

The Kaie:ri nikawera:ke Day Centre (KDC) offers a safe and welcoming space for Indigenous people who are street-involved, unhoused, or precariously housed. Services include case management, navigation of health and social services, food, clothing, showers, laundry, hygiene items, cultural activities, emotional and spiritual support, and access to medical and legal aid.

Ka'wáhse Street Patrol

The Ka'wáhse Street Patrol provides mobile intervention, essential supplies, and referrals to Indigenous unhoused people in downtown Montréal. Its goal is to improve safety and living conditions for those at risk. he team remains a visible, reliable presence. Ka'wáhse also supports weekly Cultural Nights at the NFCM, offering a warm, culturally supportive evening space.

Health Clinic

Indigenous Health Clinic

The Native Friendship Centre of Montreal (NFCM) continued its partnership with Doctors of the World (DoW) throughout 2024–2025 to operate the onsite Nurse-led Health Clinic. This collaboration remains vital in providing culturally safe, accessible, and trauma- informed healthcare to Indigenous community members who may otherwise face significant barriers within the mainstream health system.

Kanekó:ta Adult Education Program

The Native Friendship Centre of Montreal partners with the Kanekó:ta First Nations Regional Adult Education Center (FNRAEC) to support Indigenous adult learners through the on-site Kanekó:ta Adult Education Program. Together, they offer a culturally appropriate, community-based space where Indigenous students can pursue their education, enjoy daily meals, and stay connected to culture and community while working toward their goals.
