The supervision of NFCM’s frontline intervention and engagement services, ensuring that programs such as the Kaie:ri:nikawera:ke Day Centre and the Kahwáhse Street Patrol are delivered safely, effectively, and in alignment with community needs. This role provides direct support and guidance to intervention staff, oversees day-to-day service delivery, and ensures consistent use of trauma-informed, harm reduction, and culturally safe practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College, university, or equivalent diploma in social work, community services, or a related field; or a combination of education and experience working in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in program planning, service coordination, and frontline staff supervision.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to manage staff and oversee service delivery effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, community organizations, and funders.
  • Experience in grant management and funding compliance, ensuring programs meet reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed, harm reduction, and culturally responsive approaches to service delivery.
  • Experience in case management practices and supporting staff in documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to identify training and capacity-building needs for program staff.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and case management systems, with a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Strong financial literacy to monitor program budgets and spending.
  • Experience managing program inventories, ensuring supplies and resources are available to support service delivery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teams, engage with community members, and maintain external partnerships.
  • Fluency in English and French is required; knowledge of an Indigenous language is a strong asset.
  • Cultural competency regarding Indigenous values, traditions, and belief systems is a strong asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and support frontline staff delivering community-facing services, such as the Kaie:ri:nikawera:ke Day Centre and Kahwáhse Street Patrol programs.
  • Ensure employees are trained and supported in trauma-informed, harm reduction, and culturally safe service practices.
  • Lead crisis response and de-escalation strategies, ensuring safety protocols are followed for staff, volunteers, and community members.
  • Organize and lead regular team meetings to review work plans, address challenges, and strengthen staff cohesion.
  • Manage staff scheduling, workload distribution, and day-to-day operational needs for community engagement services.
  • Provide mentorship, performance management, and professional development support to frontline employees.
  • Implement program models and directives established by the Director of Programs and Services, ensuring delivery aligns with community needs and funder requirements.
  • Monitor service delivery and ensure quality standards are consistently maintained across programs.
  • Collect and maintain service statistics and other data, preparing regular reports for the Director of Programs and Services.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Programs and Services to identify community needs and recommend adjustments to existing services.
  • Support the development of funding proposals by providing frontline insights, data, and operational perspectives.
  • Maintain strong communication with community members accessing services, fostering trust, safety, and belonging.
  • Coordinate with other managers and departments to ensure smooth service referrals and collaboration.
  • Ensure service delivery personnel have the tools, supplies, and resources needed to carry out their work effectively.
  • Onboard, schedule, and supervise volunteers supporting community engagement programs, ensuring they are trained and integrated into service delivery in a safe and culturally respectful way.
  • Recognize and support contributions of volunteers, creating a positive and inclusive volunteer experience.
  • Represent the Centre in service-related working groups or community meetings as delegated by the Director of Programs and Services.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, including train-the-trainer style programs, to strengthen leadership capacity and ensure new knowledge and best practices are shared with intervention staff, engagement teams, and volunteers.
  • Carry out additional tasks as required to ensure effective management of community engagement services, including responsibilities that may arise in areas such as compliance, safety, and community support.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/ HOURS

The work schedule is full-time (37.5 hours per week), Monday through Friday, but may vary periodically based on organizational needs. Attendance at events, meetings, training, and workshops may be mandatory.
